Three Countries, Three Weeks

The SALTers and IVEPers of 2019/20

What an exciting and crazy three weeks it has been! Time has gone by incredibly fast yet incredibly slow. Three weeks ago I said (a tearful) goodbye to my loved ones at home, in Canada. A week later I left the US and said another goodbye to new, cherished friends. Here I am now, in Nicaragua, which has been rich in hellos rather than goodbyes. I am in my second week of orientation here which mainly includes tons of Spanish learning (24 hours so far, not that I'm counting) and getting to know this beautiful country! Next week I start my job here, which is working with kids in a local library.

sweaty smiles (:

This whole experience so far has been very stretching as well as rewarding. As exciting as it is, adjusting to a new culture is exhausting and at times discouraging. However, I have found abounding peace in the waiting, the unknown, and in the uncomfortable. God knows exactly what I need in every single moment and He provides. How amazing it is to always be able to rest in that, even in the chaos. Thankful for God's strength that covers me when mine fails so quickly.
